The Ol'Kunnel (who cannot read music or play by ear) first arranged this great tune for the GT Power Network in the late 1980s. The "GT Net" was a group of Bulletin Board System operators using ANSI graphics at the time. The Kunnel coded this fine tune in the ANSI format for a get-together being held in North Carolina where GT Power Sysops abounded. Since moving the Internet in 1997, the Kunnel has finally worked up a version in the MIDI format with respect to those old friends in North Carolina, no longer BBS operators but still in Carolina in the morning.

Words by Alan Jay Lerner

Music by Frederick Loewe

A Magnificent King Arthur Having survived a near-fatal overdose of cocaine in 1978, the late Richard Harris proceeded to kick his longstanding alcohol addiction and found a career jump-start when an ill Richard Burton asked him to finish out the final eight weeks of a "Camelot" stage revival in 1982. The actor would eventually stick with the show for five years, buying out the show's original producers and netting himself a very tidy bundle. (In the Old Kunnel's opinion, Mr. Harris had the finer singing voice of the two... Richard Burton couldn't sing even though a fine Shakespearean baritone.)

If ever I would leave you
It wouldn't be in summer.
Seeing you in summer
I never would go.

Your hair streaked with sunlight,
Your lips read as flame,
Your face with a lustre
That puts gold to shame!

But if I'd ever leave you,
It couldn't be in autumn.
How I'd leave in autumn
I never will know.

I've seen how you sparkle
When fall nips the air.
I know you in autumn
And I must be there.

And could I leave you running merrily through the snow?
Or on a wintry evening when you catch the fire's glow?
If ever I would leave you,
How could it be in spring time,
Knowing how in spring I'm bewitched by you so?

Oh, no! not in spring time!
Summer, winter or fall!
No never could I leave you at all!

And could I leave you
It wouldn't be in summer.
Seeing you in summer
I never would go.

Your hair streaked with sunlight,
Your lips read as flame,
Your face with a lustre
That puts gold to shame!

But if I'd ever leave you,
It couldn't be in autumn.
How I'd leave in autumn
I never will know.

I've seen how you sparkle
When fall nips the air.
I know you in autumn
And I must be there.

And could I leave you running merrily through the snow?
Or on a wintry evening when you catch the fire's glow?
If ever I would leave you,
How could it be in spring time,
Knowing how in spring I'm bewitched by you so?

Oh, no! not in spring time!
Summer, winter or fall!
No never could I leave you at all!
