This delightful tune has been successfully recorded by a wide range of performers, including Maurice Chevalier, Eartha Kitt, whose rendition could be seen in the 1954 film "New Faces," and the great band leaders Louis Armstrong, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey and Ray Anthony with their orchestras. It can also be heard in the score of the 1977 film, "Love in the Afternoon."
The Ol'Kunnel particularly remembers listening to a rendition back in the 50s where one of the things "so good" was a war-surplus life raft with extra paddles. :-D I think it was Miss Kitt's but can't remember for sure. Do you?
Arranged by Marty Gold; Music by Henri Betti; English lyric by Jerry Seelen.
"C'est Si Bon,"
lovers say that in France,
when they thrill to romance,
it means that it's so good.
C'est Si Bon, so I say it to you,
like the French people do,
because it's oh, so good.
Ev'ry word, ev'ry sigh, ev'ry kiss, dear,
leads to only one thought and it's this, dear.
It's so good, nothing else can replace,
just your slightest embrace.
And if you only would
be my own,
for the rest of my days,
I will whisper this phrase,
my darling "C'est Si Bon."
I mean that it's so good,
when I say "C'est Si Bon."
And I say "C'est Si Bon."
Because it's oh, so good.
