The 1937 Warner Brothers film, "Ready, Willing and Able" was the first collaboration between Johnny Mercer and Richard A. Whiting. In the film, Ruby Keeler and Lee Dixon, with dozens of chorus girls, tap out the lyrics of this tune on a giant typewriter. Bing Crosby's recording that same year reached the top of the charts. Having earned the status of pop standard, this great song could also be heard in the 1950 film "Young Man With A Horn."
You're much too much, and just too very very
to ever be in Webster's Dictionary.
And so I'm borrowing a love song from the birds,
to tell you that you're marvelous,
Too Marvelous For Words.
