High Society, the 1956 film of Philip Barry's play The Philadelphia Story, about romance on the Main Line, featured a score by Cole Porter, with Grace Kelly, Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra to sing it. "True Love," dueted by Bing and the future Princess of Monaco, was named for a boat that the two characters had once owned. ("She had 'yar'," they said in the film.) Porter preferred other songs in his score ("I Love You, Samatha" and "You're Sensational") and was dismayed when "True Love" was nominated for an Academy Award. (It lost to "Que Será, Será.")
In 1977, Ronald Reagan proposed to Nancy again on the occasion of their 25th wedding anniversary. Ron gave Nancy a canoe named "TruLuv" as a wedding gift.
March 4, 2002, they celebrated 50 years of marriage proving the power of true love.
